Another fun historical fact:
After my mom’s residency (med tech), she worked as a microbiologist with a man on the cutting edge of medical diagnostics at the time. He helped bring a pioneering test to the midwest, in which a pathogen was cultured and made to phosphoresce. It was one of the best tests for chlamydia at the time. That’s right, my mom helped make chlamydia glow.
